Andy & Jennifer’s Wedding… {Oklahoma City Wedding Photographer}

I really love Oklahoma. I love raising my family here. I love getting to work here.

And although I really love our weather men here in this great state, I don’t necessarily love our weather.

Andy and Jennifer know all about this. They both work at a local news station where they help make sure the rest of us are safe in our little houses when there is terrible weather outside. When they began planning their wedding last year, however, they had no idea that their work would meet them at their wedding. Their wedding day was one of a two-day spree of bad weather here in our great state. I’m not quoting any facts, but it sure seemed that we were stuck right in the middle of a wind tunnel hosting 75 mph winds. Luckily for us, though, no bad weather even came close…but none the less, it made for a very fun and different evening. Here’s to indoor wedding pictures with memories to last a lifetime.

Aimee & Joseph’s Engagements (Oklahoma City Engagement Photographer}

I can honestly say I have not met many couples that have this much fun together.

This couple makes me feel like I’m right at home…even when we are downtown and people are spying on their engagement session. They have this spirit around them that makes everyone feel comfortable. It must just draw people in. And they just belong together. You can tell the love they have comes flows the inside out.

Josh and I had an absolute blast getting to spend the afternoon with you guys. Have a great summer, and I can’t WAIT to see you guys in August.

And Joseph…I hope you kicked bootie at the marathon on Sunday and continue to do so through all your meets in May!

James & Rachel {Oklahoma City Family Portrait Photographer}

Two years ago, I made the trek to the amazingly hot Altus, OK to photograph the wedding of a very dear friend of mine. Rachel and her family have been a part of my family since I was in high school – spending my weekends at D-Nows. Her mom and dad have been a huge part of my life from my teen years through adulthood. She was the woman I always wanted to be as a youth pastor’s wife and he was the man who taught me to fly fish. Each of their family, which now includes the amazing James, pops in and out of my life here and there…and we pretend that we are the oldest and best of friends. I always look forward to seeing James and Rachel and hearing about how their lives are amazingly wonderful and blessed. I feel blessed just to have been a part of theirs.

Some engagement sessions feel too short…like you just want to continue to eat up their lovie-dovie-ness….if that’s even a word. And you just know. You just know they will be blessed and happy and healthy. You know their happily ever after is happening right before your eyes….and YOU are just lucky to get to be a part of it. Like watching Cinderella and her handsome prince, you know that they will love each other without fail, without question. Their strength comes from something that can only be explained if you have experienced it before…and it is a light that leads through even the darkest darkness. And they will be together…because there is no place better to be.

Happy engagement, Kaylee & Caleb. I cannot wait until July.

Chandy & Jonathan…

Chandy and Jonathan are the type couple that is just comfortable from the beginning. We had never met before I took their engagement pictures, but even from the start of the session, they were at ease and just lovely.

I love a bride who is comfortable enough with me to ask my opinion on her outfit and her accessories. Chandy came fit to dress like a queen, and, honestly, was as beautiful as one. When it was all over, and I began editing these photos, I felt like they were taken in some enchanted place in Europe…which I think is very fitting for Chandy and Jonathan. They just look like they belong in some magical place where love rules and they are the king and queen. So cheers to lovely couples and magical lands of mystery and love.

First comes love, then comes marriage….then comes…

I took photos at Jerrod & Stephanie’s wedding a couple of years ago. They are such a sweet couple. They had a great party and I got some of my favorite first dance pictures I’ve ever taken. They just have fun together. When I got an email from Stephanie asking if I would come to get some family pictures of their family (with a new addition), I didn’t hesitate one bit. I love seeing clients later on down the road. This particular outing, I was able to see not only Jerrod and Stephanie, but Stephanie’s entire family. They invited me into their home, offered me food and drink and asked me to stay a while. To be able to sit and chat with people you love and hear about how their lives have changed over the course of a couple of years is really heart-warming. What made this day really special was that Jerrod and Stephanie’s daughter came to Oklahoma City to be christened in the church where they were married. I cannot think of a better way to end such a special day than to eat, drink, and take photos.

Congrats you two, she is beautiful.

Tessa & Tyler {Oklahoma City Engagement Photographer}

If anyone keeps up with my Facebook fan page, you might have seen a sneak peek of this couple on there last week….and I MIGHT have mentioned that I was going to move into Tyler’s backyard. And I MIGHT be serious. If you are wondering why I would say such insane and crazy things, you only have to look at these photos and realize that they were either taken in his current backyard or in he and Tessa’s future backyard. Seriously. There are places like this in Oklahoma. You just have to buy them before anyone else does.

It’s not just the scenery that gets me excited about this couple. Tessa and Tyler and I met through another sweet bride whose wedding I am photographing later this year. All I had to do was talk to them on the phone, and I knew I was hooked. I knew we wouldn’t have any problems during the engagements and I know that I am going to have a blast during their wedding. I mean, come on, Tyler’s mom tried to feed me homemade spaghetti before I left from the engagement shoot. How can you not love a family like that? I know their wedding is going to be just as much fun, and I know that I am going to enjoy myself…not because I’m the photographer, but because I’m already in the inner circle. And. I. Love. It.

Jennifer & Andy….{Oklahoma City Engagement Photographer}

When Jennifer and Andy first showed up ready for their engagement shoot, I wasn’t sure Andy was going to make it. There are a lot of brides and grooms both that I take photos of that say things like, “I’m not photogenic.” or “I haven’t taken pictures since my senior pictures.” or “I’m so nervous…I don’t think I’m going to do a good job.” The fact of the matter is, I’ve never photographed a person or a couple where I haven’t found a few pictures that I LOVE by the end of it. Lesson learned? Everyone can take great photos. Sometimes a couple might take a bit longer to warm up, but that is why I encourage all my couples to take part in an engagement session with me. Just like Andy, when you show up, you might be a bit nervous, but by then end, you are a pro. It might take a few jumping jacks and stretches to get warmed up, but we get there eventually.

I have to be honest in saying that I am super excited to get to photograph Jennifer and Andy. They are getting married here in a few weeks, and I cannot wait to see them. They just seem like such a fun couple, that I cannot imagine not having fun at their wedding. And, if it’s par for the course, we are going to get some fabulous photos. Can’t wait guys!!

Precious Baby D…{Oklahoma City Newborn Photographer}

One of my favorite things about family sessions is getting to watch the kids I’ve done previous sessions for grow up. If you missed my first shoot with this precious guy’s family, you can see it here. The little guy has been through quite a bit since that first session. He has been through a surgery for his eye and now has to wear a patch fairly often as well as these adorable glasses. (I know you thought I put these on him to to prove how cute he is, but he brought them on his own…smart little guy) We had a blast finding all these bright colors to photograph him. And, I must say, for a one-year-old, he was a fantastic client…he was giving me smiles left and right. OK. Really he was giving Mom and Dad smiles left and right, but I got to benefit from it. Enjoy!

Jack…sweet baby Jack.

My sister has the firm opinion that one of the best things about having a photographer for a sister is that she can get great photos of her kids whenever she wants. And I have to admit that is is really nice that I can take pictures of her kids for 30 minutes or so and if they get cranky, we can just take a break or try for another day. No pressure shooting…..but sometimes you don’t need twice! Jack is a very smiley baby. He was very cooperative and did exactly as I asked. He even posed his arms in his lap just like I asked him to do:
